What internet do you recommend for a resident in Wisconsin?

I am looking for something cheap, BUT, FAST, no dial-up crap or something, but I have never had internet so how exactly does it work? How is it installed, and will they charge a fee, plus separate phone charges? Could someone give me like a breakdown of what service they have and the total costs incurred monthly with taxes and all and anything else I should know. Thanks! What internet do you recommend for a resident in Wisconsin?
i'd recommend at%26amp;t yahoo dsl, 3mbps or 6mbps (about 54x and 108x dial-up, respectively)

there are two types of broadband internet: dsl and cable

dsl goes through the phone line, but doesn't interrupt phone communications like dial-up

cable goes through the tv cable line, but doesn't interrupt your tv service

to install broadband you basically get a broadband modem, hook it up to a cable or phone line, and plug in your computer. it's a bit more complicated than that though, and you'll probably have to pay to get it installed by a technician

you get a constant bill every month plus taxes. rarely are extra charges added (unless your internet provider is lame)

i currently use at%26amp;t 3mbps, and if i recall correctly my internet bill is about $40 per month
