What can I do to make the internet connection on my ipad work?

I have a wi-fi connection but it will not connect to the internet. It shows that i have a full signal but i try and use an application or safari and it says it is not connected to the internet. Thank you for the help.What can I do to make the internet connection on my ipad work?
You may need a password (look in your router from a computer that's connected). You may be trying to connect to a neighbor's wifi signal. You may need to put the iPad's MAC address into the router. Read the router manual and look in the router to see how the router is set up.
