How do I connect to wireless internet with a new Windows 7 laptop?

I just got a brand new laptop for Christmas. It works great, but has one disadvantage...Whenever I try to connect to my wireless internet, it starts the connection but then gets booted off immediately. I typed in the Network Security Key correctly, but I'm still getting either booted off, or have a limited connection (which doesn't work at all). The only way I can get on the internet is to use a wired connection. What should I do?How do I connect to wireless internet with a new Windows 7 laptop?
Try this: Unplug the wireless router and modem from the ac outlet. Shut down the computer. Plug the modem/router back in to electric source. Turn on the computer again. Go control panel make sure network settings are set to the proper settings. Turn on network discovery and file and print sharing. How do I connect to wireless internet with a new Windows 7 laptop?
Login to your router and change the channel to 1, 6, or 11. Don't use any other channels.

Try restart or reboot your router and try it again...

First turn off your wireless on your laptop, then do the restart or reboot the router.

What is the brand/model of your new laptop?
you need to buy a wireless router that you attach to your modem such as linksys or netgear wireless routers
