Slow internet connection. failed a few things on Diagnostic Test. Downloads are very slow. Please help.?

Hello, Today our internet is very slow. and our downloads or very slow. the internet went completely off today but we removed power and powered it back up and the internet was working. And but the internet was still slow. And I checked if there were any other devices that are unknown but there was none. My brother usually has very high number of open sessions. Like 100- 300. Its been over 500 sometimes. and so I was checking out ht router and I used the diagnostic test and here is what I got.



Test Results

Ethernet: PASS

DSL PHY: PASS

Encapsulation Type: ATM

Encapsulation Test: PASS

PPP Type: PPPoE

PPP Authentication: PASS

DNS Resolve: FAIL

DNS #1: FAIL

DNS #2: FAIL



And we have Actionect PK500



I also don't remember there being any

UPnP port things. But there are four. two on my brothers ip address and two on mine. one tcp and one udp for both.



Please. If you can think of anything wrong with it or settings or anything that might help please speak up. And if you need more information just tell me.

sounds like its overloaded basicly, alot of open sessions often means bittorrent downloading which is a great way to make the net feel like a slug climbing a mountain!

if you can borrow a friends router or such you can easly see if the problem is your net itself (from the ISP that is) or your router.Slow internet connection. failed a few things on Diagnostic Test. Downloads are very slow. Please help.?
First try restarting the router.

Then try to change your dns settings



Go to Open dns .com select for home and follow there instructions.
