How do you permanantley delete your internet history?

I am on a computer course at the moment and since then...every one of my friends and people who I tell about this... have asked the same question...how do you completley wipe your internet history? Its a question I've always wondered as well, because I hear that even though you think you've deleted everything, there's always a trace of what you've been on somewhere. My usual answer is for Internet Explorer...Control Panel...Internet Options...etc...delete browsing files. However I am on

Google Chrome as are a lot of people I know and even though there is a way of clearing internet browsing history with a few clicks of a button, there is obviously still traces of the history stored on the computer which the average computer user can't see. Without getting too deep into codes and things like that, even with some high tech software that someone may download in

the future to catch you out...is there a way, of permanantley deleting/wiping your internet history so that no matter what, it cannot be found, even by a professional?

Everyone I've asked so far seems to think that its impossible because it leaves some sort of print on the computer iteself etc. But there has to be a way.

P.S. Any ways of doing it need to be free and something that somebody with little or no real computer experience can do. It also can't be something that could

completley wreck a computer or wipe everything such as a System Restore or something like that. Additionally, most of the people, including myself are using laptops not PC's so therefore not really a piece of equipment that can be pulled apart and put back together if that's necessary.

I use CCleaner, it deletes EVERYTHING you can think of, including internet history,
The only way to do that is to take the hard drive out and physically destroy it.How do you permanantley delete your internet history?
no matter what you try to do and clean your computer the files will never truy go away. the people who are the best in data recovery can still recover data from your hard drive even if it has been wiped away. the only thing is to physically destroy the hard drive.
With the browser open on a blank tab.(no matter what internet browser)

hold down Ctrl and shift then press the delete key.

in the menu that appears,
select what it is you want to permanently delete.
then press the enter key or click on ok.
then close the browser.

this action can not be undone,
the deleted data can not be recovered.

Not possible. From what your asking as you would need to hack the college server. What ever you type into your address bar is run through the main college server this server process your request and then retrieves the URL. The server knows what you've been on and in order to completely wipe your internet history you would need access to both.
Yes, only a professional data recovery person can find your deleted sites. Though, if you are minor or are married and your parents or your spouse want to check what you do online, there are online services that one buys to view everything (even what you delete) that you do from your computer (being it that they download the remote access. You can disable that from sharing your computer. Check it. Go to "my computer" . right click it to open a menu. click on "propeties" Under the :sharing tab, make sure it says "not shared". If it says share..tweak it.

You can't completely delete files cause of the index dat file that stores what you do online or offline. But only a professional can open this file. It's crucial for Windows.

You can have your computer delete daily search sites from Internet Options. Putting a check mark on "delete browsing history on exit".

Also from Internet Options click on "content" tab and under "auto complete" click on settings tab and tweak it. Click apply and ok so it can take effect.

Also, click on the "web search" bar. When the window opens, click on the drop down arrow next to "more". The menu that appears, click on "preferences". Under Search Direct edit that to turn it off.
